Their mission is to foster respect and compassion for all living things, promote understanding of all cultures and beliefs, and inspire each individual to take action to make the world a better place for people, animals, and the environment. This program will include nature walks, mapping our community, animal studies, and more! Children who have already participated in a trimester of Roots & Shoots are encouraged to register for the spring trimester, however new students are also welcome!

Cooking by the Book

Wednesdays | 2:45 - 5:00 pm

Each week we will read a children's picture book that has some connection to food. The references may be obvious, such as in The Gingerbread Man or not so obvious, like Yoko, the story of a girl who brings sushi for lunch.  We will then make the food written about in the story and explore if we like it … or not. No matter what, the process of creating and cooking will be great fun. Recipes will be sent home so you can cook them as a family!

  • Instructor: Kate Weeden

  • Class Dates: April 3, 2019 - May 29, 2019 (no class on April 17, 2019)
