Cows for Nepal, through Heifer International | World Hunger Mission Offering
In Nepal, livestock is the most important contributor to rural livelihoods, providing income, food security and assets that can help withstand crises. But in rural areas, the poverty rate is much higher than the national average. Because of the low productivity of traditional animals, the country imports significant quantities of dairy products to meet the demand. Heifer’s project in Nepal provides cows and training to increase the yield and quality of dairy produced on local farms. These improvements will help farmers grow their businesses and allow more families, especially those in need, to strengthen their health and nutrition through improved access to milk’s essential nutrients. A gift of a cow through Heifer helps families achieve a sustainable living income.
