SMALL GROUPS

This fall, small groups are meeting weekly throughout October to make friendships, hold safe space that feels like a relief, and have conversations that matter. Anchor your year in reflection and community, and find a group to be part of. Reach out to a group leader to register.

Theology on Tap
Tuesdays, October 7, 14, 21, 28 | 6-7:30 PM | Custom House on Montague
Morgan Proffitt-Davis leading

Have you ever had questions about what Christians believe and why? Theology on Tap is a small group that will be discussing the introductory basics of theology: faith, creation, Jesus, church, sacraments, and more. We’ll be reading from Alister McGrath’s primer, Theology: The Basics, which discusses a variety of viewpoints and opinions on things like heaven, Holy Spirit, and the Trinity. This is a small group for anyone and everyone. Each week we'll be reading, thinking, and chatting with each other about what we think and why - no pressure, experience, or previous knowledge needed.

God, Teach Us to Write: Journals, Scripture, and Suleika Jaouad’s The Book of Alchemy
Sundays, October 12, 19, and 26 | 6-7:30 PM | Parsonage
Carol Younger leading

“God, Teach Us to Write” explores writing as a spiritual practice. If you find yourself reaching for a pen the way others reach for kneeling benches, this group may feel like home to you. Ever since St. Ignatius recorded his Spiritual Exercises, people of faith have found that praying with scripture and a notebook, using lectio divina and imaginative contemplation, helps ancient words lead them to new life. Our culture’s rising interest in journaling, blogging, and the physical and mental health benefits of writing makes this an opportune moment for the Church to offer writing opportunities. Those curious about writing as a form of prayer and a catalyst for community often find both through Plymouth writing groups.
