YANKEE FAIR 2023

It’s Yankee Fair time again! Join us on Saturday, October 28 10:00 AM - 3:00 PM for a fun-filled day for the whole family. There will be children’s games, loads of food, an indoor market, sing-alongs, and more.

Calling All Foodies, Fresh and Frozen: Brooklyn Loaves + Dishes

Calling all cake bakers, corn breaders, relishers, pie mavens, sweeties and not so sweeties, grub hubbers and genuine pot stirrers: Time to warm up your ovens and ignite your carbon neutral induction ranges. We need you for the first annual Yankee Fair sweet, savory and frozen extravaganza:  Brooklyn Loaves + Dishes  (formerly known as the Country Kitchen, but hey, we modernized). Please cook for us: whole cakes and pies, quick and slow breads, jams, relishes, cookies, brownies, cupcakes, fudge, crackers and any other treats. Pie boxes and some containers will be available at coffee hour or wrap up your own way. Or bring a batch and we will sell individually. Please label with product name and any allergens and drop off donations Friday, October 27 or before 10 AM on Fair Day.

We also need FROZEN FOODIES to make 8 -10 containers of the same soup or stew (quarts), tomato sauces (pints) and frozen meals like pot pie, pulled pork, enchilada or similar ( 38 oz microwave entrée containers). We will hand out containers at coffee hour starting October 8 or the church office. Please email Brooklyn Loaves + Dishes co-chairs Caroline Koster and Michelle Levitte to discuss your proposed offering. So far we have Caroline and Vernice’s Red Hook Pesto, Uncle Frankie’s Beef Bourguignon and French Commando Onion Soup. Gather a group and make a big batch or do it solitaire while watching football and Taylor Swift. Either way, deliver to the Hillis Hall freezer starting October 8. Label with name, ingredient, allergens and instructions.

Email Carline Koster or Michelle Levitte to volunteer for big batches.
